According to an ad placed in Wisconsin Light, Hag Rag was "Wisconsin's lesbian-feminist newspaper; a bi-monthly publication which focuses on news, non-fiction, political analysis and commentary of interest to lesbians and radical feminists". They welcomed submissions dealing with racism, lesbophobia, separatism, class and economics, feminist analysis, the worldwide lesbian conspiracy, and linquistics. As of Feb. 1988, subscriptions were $9/year, "free to incarcerated dykes".
