The August 7, 1976 issue of the local "GLIB Guide" describes the Advent as follows: "Large typical south side bar serves food after hours." (While the GLIB Guiide spelled it as "Advent", note the photo shows the bar sign reading "AD-VENT".)

Researcher Michail Takach discovered a brief blurb in GPU News (Nov. 1975) indicating that Advent was owned by John Clayton, who also operated C'est La Vie; why he had opened a second gay bar at the same time is a mystery.
