Very little is known about Lydia's Bar. The first known advertisement, appearing in August 1972 issue of GPU News, says that "Lydia's Bar, formerly in Kenosha, has reopened in Racine". That seems to match with an advertisement for The Shack in Kenosha in the same issue of GPU News, which mentioned in its ad "formerly Liddia's".

Despite the difference in spelling, it would appear that the space that was formerly "Liddia's" or "Lydia's" in Kenosha (10936 Sheridan Rd., Hwy 32, Kenosha) was relocated to this new location in Racine, and the former space of that bar became "The Shack". (Perhaps the owners of the old Kenosha Lydia's wanted to keep some of its LGBT patrons after that Kenosha building was taken over by new owners and renamed to The Shack.)

However, nothing at all is known about either the new location's business (other than that it advertised briefly in the 'GPU News')-- OR that former location of Lydia's and whether it was also LGBT or gay-friendly.

More information about this business is welcomed from anyone who can contribute it.
